Surfing stand up paddle boards blend the touring and adventuring capabilities of SUPs with the high-speed, adrenaline-fueled action of a surfboard. They are larger than surfboards, more agile than SUPs, and as an increasing number of consumers look for the perfect middle-ground, they are becoming more popular.
To help you find the best surfing SUPs, we have listed all of the biggest surfing SUP brands on the market right now, along with their best boards.

Badfish is a SUP company based in Salida, Colorado. It was founded by Zack Hughes and Mike Harvey, two surfing SUPs enthusiasts who worked together to create some of the earliest surfing SUP boards.
The company took root back in 2007 and was incorporated 3 years later. Since then, Badfish has created a number of cutting-edge SUPs, including river surfing SUPs, fishing SUPs, and more.
Luke Hopkins joined the company a few years ago and these three owners are accompanied by a small team of marketers and creatives.
Badfish’s surfing SUPs are made for river surfing and there are several to choose from.
IRS stands for “Inflatable River Surfer”, which tells you all that you need to know. It’s much less terrifying than the Inland Revenue Service and is designed with river shredding in mind.
The IRS is suitable for beginners and intermediates. It comes in at 7’6”, features an unbreakable tri-fin, and can take riders up to 220 lbs. The board is very durable and weighs just 22 lbs.
At $899, it’s not a cheap option, but you’ll also get a well-made board, a dual-action pump, a board bag, and a breakdown travel paddle.
The Rivershred is a high-performance iSUP that spans 9’6” and comes with a 6-point tie-down and a removable tri-fin. It’s wider, longer, and heavier than the IRS, and at $1,099, it’s also more expensive. But you get a lot of board for your money, as well as the usual accessories.

Infinity Surfboards was founded in 1970 as a surfboard company. It has since manufactured and sold over 50,000 surfboards, beginning with a 7-foot balsa single fin, and expanding into everything from skateboards to stand up paddle boards.
The Infinity team includes Steve Boehne, who was inducted into the International Shapers Hall of Fame in 2017, and his sons Dave and Dan.
Infinity has played an important role in the growth of surfing and other extreme sports. It was one of the first brands to manufacture fiberglass skateboards and was part of the Dog Town movement. Guy Grundy broke a World Record on an Infinity skateboard and the brand’s surfboards have appeared on countless surfing magazine front covers.
Some of the best surfing SUPs sold by Infinity Surfboards include:
At nearly $2,200, the Blurr V2 is one of the most expensive surfing SUPs on this list, but you get what you pay for, and what you pay for is a premium board designed by a renowned shaper.
The board features a single concave and a strong carbon construction that includes a good amount of flex. It’s said to be Kai Lenny’s favorite board, and it’s easy to see why.
The Blurr V2 is available in sizes ranging from 7’5” to 8’11”, with a volume of between 72 and 142 liters. It is a very popular board and was actually sold out at the time of writing, so be sure to reserve your board the next time it’s in stock.
The B-Line is Blurr’s slightly wider sibling. It’s available for a similar price (and is also sold out at the time of writing) and has more of a relaxed rocker. It comes in sizes ranging from 7’4” to 8’8” and offers a great deal of maneuverability and stability—perfect for a surfing SUP.

The “JP” in JP Australia stands for Jason Polakow, a professional windsurfer and two times world champion from Victoria, Australia. The brand began way back in 1997 and focused purely on windsurfing. In 2010, it expanded its product range to include stand up paddle boards and has since sold boards to many pro riders.
There are new products added to the JP Australia range every year, and as they are designed by pro riders and expert shapers, they always offer good value for money.
The best surfing SUP in the JP Australia range is the SurfAir.
The SurfAir features a 4” thickness, a 3D stringer, and a length of 9’7”. It has an impressive volume of 175 liters and features a tri-fin setup.
There are three layers in this composite board, including two airtight PVC sheets and a 1000D polyester fabric, all of which are bonded to a 500D polyester drop stich fabric. The composition creates a strong and durable shell that provides lots of volume on the water, allows for smooth turns, and ensures it can take a beating on the waves.
Other JP Australia Products
JP Australia has a selection of touring/cruising and all-around SUPs, as well as boards designed for kids and multiple riders. You’ll also find plenty of windsurfing gear and wings, which is where this brand made its name.

Kinetic Surf Designs
Kinetic Surf Designs has been around since 1995. It’s a small brand that creates custom surfboards and stand up paddle boards.
The Kinetic Surf Designs website is in need of an upgrade and doesn’t have a great deal of information or product descriptions. However, there are a few boards currently listed here, including:
A surfing SUP that’s available in three sizes, including 7’11”, 8’8”, and 9’4”. It works well in a variety of ocean conditions and is rapid over even the choppiest of waves.
As with all Kinetic boards, you can order custom variations to match your style and color preferences.
A wide SUP with a surfboard-style design. The Hammer Headsup is stable and strong. It’s also compact and can handle an array of conditions.
Choose from a variety of lengths and widths. Bigger riders should opt for the larger variations, which go up to 8’6” long and 31.5” wide. Smaller riders should stick with narrower and shorter variations.
Little Ted is Kinetic’s best-selling stand up paddle board. It’s a wide board with a short hull and this makes it both stable and agile. This 9-foot board has an impressive volume of 160 liters and can be used for short-distance paddling adventures or high-speed surfing.
The five fin boxes also give you plenty of options when it comes to fine-tuning the board to suit your riding style and the conditions.

King’s is a SUP brand based in Carlsbad, California. Its headquarters are just a stone’s throw from the surf and it designs and produces everything in the United States. Every single board is overseen by Dave Daum, the head shaper and designer, and it offers complete customization for all of its customers.
In fact, you can book an appointment with Dave and design your own board using the brand’s 3D design software. If you’re a pro seeking a state-of-the-art board built to your strict specifications, or you’re an amateur with exacting tastes, this is the way to go.
Here are a few of the standout surfing SUPs sold by King’s:
The Sidewinder is a SUP designed for high-performance surfing. It delivers quick turns, rapid speed, and a comfortable ride. There are a few distinctive colors to choose from, including lime green, and it features a specially made top for maximum grip.
The King’s Simmons SUP is an everyday surfing SUP that promises stability, speed, and performance. It is based on the boards designed by Bob Simmons, a legend in the sport of surfing and one that many consider the father of the modern surfboard.
The Simmons SUP comes in at less than 9” and is a wide and stable board despite the thin nose, tail, and rails. This shape maintains stability and speed on the waves while allowing for sharp turns.
The Simmons SUP is one of our personal favorite surfing SUPs. At just under $1,800, it’s not the cheapest option, but it’s a fantastic board that delivers great value for money.
The Triple Threat is larger than the Simmons SUP and features more of a streamlined profile. It has a high entry rocker and a generous tail rocker as well as thin rails and a full concave. The result is a board that moves rapidly and effortlessly through the waves.
King’s specializes in SUPs and surfing SUPs in particular. However, it also sells a number of accessories and extras, including a King’s-branded surf foil, SUPs for kids, helmets, fins, and paddles.
