Wavestorm paddle boards are some of the most popular boards in the United States and can be found on beaches across this great nation.

They are manufactured in huge quantities and are very affordable, but are these boards worth buying?

In this guide to the Wavestorm brand, we’ll answer that question and many others.

The Wavestorm Paddle Board

Wavestorm paddle boards are available at Costco and cost around $400 to $500, depending on the model.

They include features such as textured deck pads, cool and colorful graphics, and adjustable paddles.

You will even get a vehicle roof rack, making it easy to transport the board to and from the beach.

Wavestorm Paddle Board Review

For the purposes of this Wavestorm review, we will be focusing on the Wavestorm 9’6″ Expedition Paddleboard, which can be bought in-store or online.

It is currently listed at $399.99 and provides the following features:

  • A maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds
  • A multi-colored design
  • 4.4′ thickness; 9’5″ length
  • Weighs just over 25 pounds
  • Removable ankle leash for added security
  • 9′ removable fin
  • Accessory storage strap to secure items when paddle boarding
  • Adjustable paddle that can stretch between 5’9″ and 7’1″
  • Soft handle grip for easy transportation
  • Textured foot deck pad for extra grip

It is made from a molded foam core and comes with three stringers and a high-density polyethylene bottom to improve the board’s rigidity.

The deck is soft and comfortable underfoot and the paddle is surprisingly good quality.

Are Costco Paddle Boards any Good?

Of course! Costco is famed for producing very reasonably priced goods and the Wavestorm stand up paddle board is no exception.

You’re not getting a cheap board that will fall apart after a few months.

You’re getting a great board with an affordable price tag, and one that is perfectly suited to beginner and intermediate paddle boarders.

If you’re working to a tight budget or just don’t want to spend too much on your new hobby, the Wavestorm paddle board could be ideal.

How Much is a Wavestorm Paddle Board at Costco?

The one mentioned above is just $399.99 at the time of writing.

There is also a Wavestorm 10’6″ SUP-KAYAK Paddle Board listed at $479.99, and other models may be available as well.

Regardless of the model, Wavestorm makes great foam boards and because it’s Costco, you know you’re getting a great deal.

Who Makes the Best Stand Up Paddleboard?

Although Wavestorm gets a lot of respect in the paddle board community, it’s generally not considered to be a top-tier brand and its lower price point means it can’t compete with some of the highest-quality offerings available.

Some of the best paddle board brands we have encountered include Red Paddle Co. and Hala Gear.

You can also find a lot of value in boards made by Thurso Surf and BOTE.

Summary: The Wavestorm SUP Paddle Board

The Wavestorm is a very good paddle board.

Sure, it’s not able to compete with the biggest brands and the highest-quality boards, but when you consider that it’s available for less than $400, it’s incredible value for money.

It’s a very rigid board (helped by the addition of marine wood stringers) and the inclusion of a removable flat water fin, along with an accessory storage strap, makes it very convenient as well.

The soft graphic deck skin not only looks good, but it won’t fade and should hold firm for years to come.

The pre-installed leash plug and paddle means that you’re just a life jacket and some suitable clothing away from a safe trip on the water!
